6 June London to Lizard via Stonehenge, Truro

6 June London to Lizard

6 June Off to Lizard

This trip was 6 months in the planning. Today we see it come into fruition.

We took a bus from Mad Hatter Hotel at Stamford Rd to St Pancras St where we picked up our Sixt rental car, an SUV Vauxhall.

It was a long journey, and we broke the trip 3 hours later at McDonald's Sparkford. Thanks to Google and Giffgaff data service, I managed to route around a massive jam while trying to get out of London.

We adjourned to A30, past Amesbury and joined a little jam where drivers slowed to oogle at Stonehenge that is visible from the highway. 2.5 hours later, we break in Truro Gharras Wharf and stocked up on supplies.

Past Helston on A390 and onward to Lizard Point, it was hedge roads before tappering off to 'who should reverse and it the other pass' kind of road. Pretty scary.

We were just in time for the 5 pm  checking in hours. Our ensuite room is big, bare, no towels etc with neon YHA green covers. No Internet and heating; bet it was for friends to bond and be close. It was the perfect spot to stay as our bay window overlooked the seas.

We walked in the direction of Kynance Cove and marvelled at the coastal flora and fauna and crashing waves with deep blue skies as backdrop. It was a sight to behold!

Back at the YHA, we did a Ramen trick with eggs. I am sure the other lodgers were envious because it was all cold food and bread for most folks.

9. 3-pm and no signs that the cloud cover will ease, I called it a day for Milky Way sightings. Under the neon green bedsheets, it was the best sleep since we arrived.
